Study Abroad
The student is responsible for finding a suitable study programme outside Denmark, apply for admission, organise accommodation etc., but Aalborg University provides support throughout the process.
Preparations
For an overview of the process, consult the web pages of Aalborg University’s International Office:
http://internationaloffice.aau.dk/study_abroad
Your choice of university will primarily depend on your preferences with regard to topics you would like to specialise in, and a good place to start is to check out our list of relevant tourism programmes. You will find additional links on the web pages of Aalborg University’s International Office: not all of them offer MA-level tourism programmes, but it may be worth trying anyway.
Aalborg University provides financial support in two ways:
- the study board provides some support towards tuition fees
- the university’s Internationalisation Pool provides a grant towards travel expenses etc.

Acceptance of Study Programme
- The study programme of the individual student has to be accepted by the tourism studies coordinator not just once but several times:
- before departure the study programme has to be submitted for preliminary acceptance (normally 3-4 courses/exams abroad will be required)
- if the study programme has to be amended during the stay, it will have to be resubmitted to the coordinator
after the period abroad, the certificate(s) documenting that exams have been passed must be submitted to the coordinator for approval - if one or more of the exams in the study programme have not been passed, alternative written assignments will be set by the study coordinator.
